We are offering 20 people the opportunity to become a qualified Pool Lifeguard and work at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre through our Lifeguard Training and Employment Program!

We will provide:

  • Bronze Medallion;
  • Level 2 First Aid (includes CPR);
  • Royal Life Saving Society Australia – Pool Lifeguard Part 1 Completion Certificate; and,
  • 20 Hours of unpaid on the Job Training and Work Experience (Collectively Coursework).

Upon successful completion candidates will be issued a RLSSA Pool Lifeguard Licence and be placed in a pool of job-ready candidates available for offers of casual employment as a Pool Attendant at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre.

$26.80 per hour + weekend penalty rates + super + benefits.

Career progression opportunities exist for Casual Pool Attendants within the Aquatic Centre.

Note:

  1. Casual employment will commence for successful applicants at the completion of 20 hours worked experience; and
  2. Each attendant must work at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre for a minimum of three months commencing 30th November 2019 and expiring 31 February 2020 and must work a minimum of four shifts per week, unless one day is a weekend in which case the minimum will be three shifts. (Wednesday – Tuesday work week).

Training Dates:

Training will take place over the 27th, 28th & 29th of November.

Essential Criteria:

  • A medium to high level of aquatic fitness to complete the physical fitness and strength test (refer to Physical Fitness & Strength Test below);
  • Availability to work a minimum of 3 days per week including at least one day on the weekend for a three month period commencing 30 November 2019;
  • Only Australian citizens, permanent Australian residents or persons holding appropriate Australian work visas are eligible; and
  • Providing us with your direct debit details and signing our Pool Operations Training Package Debit Conditions.

Physical Fitness & Strength Test:

  • Deep Water Retrieval Test – ability to retrieve a practice dummy from a depth of 5m,
  • Lift Test – ability to lift a swimmer out of the water (using appropriate manual handling procedures),
  • Rescue Test – 25 metre swim / 25 metre non-contact tow in less than 1 minute 45 seconds,
  • Fitness Test – 200 metre swim in less than 6 minutes (any stroke).

About the Pool Attendant role:

The Pool Attendant monitors the use of facilities by the public and sporting groups, and undertakes regular basic maintenance and reporting of pool equipment and facilities, to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for users. The role also assists with the delivery of events and programs.

Please note that due to Pool Lifeguard licensing restrictions, applications must work exclusively for the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre during the course of their employment.
